Josette ten Have-de Labije

Josette ten Have-de Labije, psychologist-psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, studied at the universities of Groningen and Amsterdam (the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research). She started her professional career in 1972 at the Department for Neuro- and Psychophysiology of the Free University of Brussels (Belgium). Thereafter she worked in the Netherlands at a public mental health center for ambulant (non-residential) patients as coordinator of the Behavior Therapy Department and member of the Diagnostic Staff. Since 1990 she has been working in private practice.

Dr ten Have-de Labije was trained as a Cognitive-Behavior Therapist (Individual and Group setting), Couples Therapist, Therapist for Psychodynamic Individual and Group Psychotherapy, and Therapist for Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. From 1989 to 1992, she was a member of the Dutch ISTDP core-group, which was trained and supervised by Professor Dr H. Davanloo.

As supervisor and trainer of the Dutch Association for Cognitive and Behavior Therapy, Dr ten Have-de Labije has given supervision and postgraduate courses in behavior therapy at the Universities of Utrecht and Amsterdam as well as several postdoctorate courses and workshops. As supervisor and trainer of the Netherlands Foundation for Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, she has given supervision, several postdoctorate courses and workshops in The Netherlands. In addition, Dr ten Have-de Labije has given and gives workshops, training and supervision in ISTDP in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland and Italy. She has organized several national and international conferences on Behavior Therapy, Cancer Treatment and Mental Health, and ISTDP. Dr ten Have-de Labije has given numerous presentations on Behavior Therapy and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy at Dutch and International Congresses. She has published numerous articles and books in the field of psychotherapy.

Dr ten Have-de Labije has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Dutch Association for Behavior Therapy (VGt). As one of the founders of the Dutch Association for Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (VKDP), she was on the Board of Directors until October 2004. She is the editor-in-chief of the Ad Hoc Bulletin for Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy: Practice and Theory. Until January 2013 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the International Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy Association (IEDTA). At present, Dr ten Have-de Labije is a member of the IEDTA’s Advisory Board.
